Street Art in Mazarrón

I don't know about you but I am by no means a connoisseur of art but I do have an appreciation of beautiful things, artistic talent and particularly anything creative that tells a local story.

Here in Mazarrón we seem to be surrounded by the latter and the stories behind some of the street art here really intrigue and touch me.

Here are some examples you might find interesting…

Located opposite the town hall is a beautiful piece of street art, which as I understand it was created as a dedication and thanks for all our healthcare professionals that lead the way and looked after us all, and continue to do so, through the Covid 19 pandemic.

The painting on the wall, of what looks like a derelict building, is this incredibly beautiful, colourful image of a nurse in a mascarilla, with a white rose. Next to it is an inscription which translates to a thank you to all healthcare professionals.

The second image I have chosen is a short walk down from the Covid tribute and is located in prime view, opposite Cafe Bar Miguel. This image is of a mother and daughter and was commissioned as a mothers day tribute.

The third image is a little further away and is of a little girl watching over the fishing boats.  This is located in Bolnuevo, just across the road from Elliots and contains beautiful colours and is symbolic of the fishermen of Mazarrón.

Number 4 is in El Puerto, situated just behind the Indoor Market, on the side of the biblioteca. This is pretty self explanatory but is a great creative use of space and makes for a colourful sight.

In addition to these 4 images which have really jumped out at me, there are many other painted chiringuitos, public loos and other less official pieces of art popping up everywhere across our region. I have obviously included some photos here in the blog but I would love to see more snaps of any art you have come across and the location in the comments, so I can visit those too.
