Amor del Mar - great food, beautiful setting and winter sunshine
My first trip out after this recent round of restrictions was to try a new restaurant that I had been dying to try before the restrictions put everything on hold again.
Having sat at home for weeks, not writing, I was desperate to get out and socialise and gather material to start blogging again and our choice of venue did not disappoint!!!
My visit was during the phase where bars and restaurants were unable to open inside and could only open their terrace at a reduced capacity, so a lunch time trip out for some winter sun, a view of the sea and some really good food was much needed.
We had booked a table, not knowing how much of an impact the restrictions were having on walk-ins, but it was desperately sad to see how quiet all the restaurants in the Port were. That said, we were just glad to be out, enjoying a lovely setting and getting to eat great food without the washing up.
On arrival we were able to pick our table, not that it mattered where we sat with the vast views of the sea and the sun shining down on us. Amor del Mar offered a great menu del dia, including 3 courses and a glass of wine, beer or soft drink for 13 euros - a bargain and the food was fab.
Between us we had starters of Russian Salads with Balsamic Toast and Goats Cheese, Walnut and Pine Nut Salad, all of which were superb. For mains we were served up Scampi, Beef Stroganoff and Pasta Carbonara and there were lots of very full tummies.
And then, the piece de resistance.... Dessert!!!!
Wow, I have to say I am more of a starter person than dessert but these were absolutely hands down the best desserts I have had since being in Spain! The Banoffee Cheesecake, Dark Chocolate Brownie with Ice-Cream were delicious and the Red Velvet Cake with Cream was absolutely incredible. Despite being lactose intolerant it was worth popping a couple of pills, just to try a small spoonful of the cake and if I hadn't been introllerant I would have gone for seconds for sure!!!
The staff were efficient, polite and really good fun - a credit to the business!
Free Shots to end our meal was a lovely touch and my dining companions seemed to thoroughly enjoy them!
So, in summary of our visit:
