The New Los Balcones - Tapas, Views and Sunshine

So to set the scene, it's a lazy Sunday morning and we have friends over from the UK.  We fancy a picky tapas lunch, a cool beer and a good old chatter in the sunshine, surrounded by beautiful scenery..... Where do we go?

Well The New Los Balcones ended up being the perfect choice!

Situated just off the RM3 between Totana and Mazarron, this venue has easy access but is tucked beautifully out of the way and surrounded by the most stunning panoramic views of the mountains. 

On arrival there was plenty of parking, a beautiful terrace with a balance of sunshine and shade and several outdoor boulodromes for a game of pétanque.

There is a large inside dining space and bar but visiting on a hot day we made the most of the beautiful L shaped terrace overlooking the pool, which was open for use, and the mountains. 

One side of the terrace is covered with sails, providing enough shade on a hot sunny day or tables in the sunshine, if you wish.  The other side is a covered in space, in full shade but without blocking out the stunning view.

There were 7 of us in our group (pre-restrictions of 6) and we all had our fill of fresh home made tapas dishes, beers and coffee and for all of us our bill for the afternoon came to around 70€ and we were all happily fed and watered, with some of us evening having dessert and coffee. 

As well as great tapas they also offer a Menú del Día which offers 4 courses for 11€ and although we've not tried this I am sure we will be back to do so. 


There are so many positive points about this bar/restaurant.  The hosts Nicola and Declan can not do enough for you. They are friendly, professional and their culinary skills certainly match up to their hosting. 

The views are incredible and the relaxed, friendly environment is just perfect for a long lazy afternoon. The use of the pool makes this a lovely place to not just to pop in for lunch but to spend a leisurely afternoon soaking up the rays and sipping a cold drink.

THE COSTA CALIDA - The Warm Coast

    The Costa Calida is the coastline of Murcia and runs from the North near Alicante, down to the South bordering with Almeria. Well know areas along this coast include the Mar Menor, Aguilas, Mazarron and Cartegena to name just a few. Bar Review - Tel's Bar, Camposol

This bar is a great little hangout, with a positive, fun vibe to it and plenty to offer during hot sunny days, late warm evenings and even on the cooler or wetter days. Located on Camposol Sector A, Leanne has a fantastic established team by her side and has been running Tel´s for many years now.  Whether you are looking for a full English breakfast, a quiz, music entertainment or just a good drink and chatter this is a great place for all.   I have spent many an afternoon or evening with friends, enjoying the relaxed environment and a glass of something cold.  Nothing is ever too much trouble for Leanne and I have seen her go out of her way on many occasions for her customers - I've even seen her give some of them a lift home to save them a long walk!
